Electric citrus juicers are ideal if you enjoy making large quantities of lemonade or freshly squeezed orange juice, but they are impractical for recipes that call for only a few lemons or limes. When this occurs, a simple manual citrus juicer is functional. It’s the kind of unassuming kitchen tool you’ll reach for repeatedly, whether for salad dressings, cocktails, baking, or adding that crucial hit of acid to whatever you’re preparing for dinner.
However, there are good manual juicers and poor manual juicers. Good ones will extract more juice faster than you can by hand and automatically remove pulp and seeds. Bad ones can take as long or longer than your hands to juice a piece of fruit and are just as messy.
However, with so many models on the market, how can one distinguish between the good and the bad? Therefore, we evaluated many top-rated citrus juicers. We selected our preferred models after many hours, several hundred fruits, several gallons of juice, and two sore wrists.

Why You Should Make Your Juice?
Using a manual citrus juicer is unquestionably more time-consuming than purchasing juice from a store. However, the benefits justify the effort.
Did you know that oxygen is removed from mass-produced juices during processing after juicing? This nearly eliminates the flavor of the juice, so sommeliers are required to recreate it. Each perfume brand is created using oils and additives that impart a unique “flavor.”
Additionally, these oils and additives are not required to be listed on the product’s ingredients label. Therefore, you never honestly know what you are drinking. Unless you use juice at home, let’s look at the most effective manual citrus juicers.
Why Select A Manual Citrus Extractor?
When it comes to acquiring a juicer, you can purchase a pricey electric gadget that can cost several hundred dollars. However, if you are not juicing more than 25 oranges per day, this heavy-duty product is probably unnecessary.
Enter the best citrus juicer manual.
They are small and compact, simple to clean, and have few moving parts, so breakage is not a concern. Manual citrus juicers provide greater control than electric juicers because the juice is not frequently over squeezed. This occurs when the juicer reaches the fruit’s white pith, making the juice bitter.
What Types Of Citrus Are There?
There are numerous citrus varieties, and not all of them are optimal for use with a manual citrus juicer. However, home cooks most frequently utilize citrus fruits: lemons, limes, oranges, and grapefruits.
These produce varying amounts of juice, so if you only need a small amount, a manual juicer is often the best option. The various types of juicers offer flexibility based on your needs.
Best Manual Citrus Juicers For Homemade Squeezed Juice
Manual juicers require effort on your part. However, the best products are designed to minimize your labor as much as possible. In addition, they are constructed with durable materials, such as stainless steel instead of plastic, so that they will not wear out or break despite repeated, heavy use.
Moreover, a good juicer must effectively extract the juice. This involves effectively removing all the fruit’s moisture and filtering out seeds and other debris.
As I searched for a juicer that could withstand my abuse, I took these characteristics into account. Each of the five manual juicers listed below excelled in usability, durability, and performance, and any one of them would be an excellent addition to your kitchen.

2. Best for Speed - OXO Good Grips 2-in-1 Citrus Juicer
The 2-in-1 citrus juicer is ideal for preparing both juice and your preferred baking recipe. You can easily switch between juicing slight citruses such as lemons and limes and prominent citrus such as oranges and grapefruits with two special reamers.
The body is shaped for a comfortable grip, and the measurement markings are easy to read up to 1.5 Cups/350 ml. The pour spout is drip-free, and the reamers are detachable for straightforward cleaning. Safe for dishwasher use. Without BPA.
I cannot believe how simple it was to extract every drop of lemon juice using this product. Recently, I’ve been making my salad dressings, and squeezing the lemons by hand was highly inconvenient (not getting all the juice out and having to fish the seeds out).
Using this product made it enjoyable. It is incredibly sturdy and well-made, allowing one to extract every drop of juice from these lemons. I like that there are measurement lines on the side, and the straining portion at the top does an excellent job of removing pulp chunks.
We will occasionally pour the juice through a wire mesh strainer for fruits with smaller seeds, such as limes, or to remove more pulp. Juicing is straightforward, as are measuring, pouring, and cleanup.
Key Features
- Snap on the small reamer for lemons and limes, or the large reamer for oranges and grapefruit
- Measurement markings up to 1. 5 cups/350 ml

3. Prepara Glass Citrus Juicer
Prepara Glass Citrus Juicer with Storage, Yellow
This manual citrus juicer with a 5-ounce/148-milliliter capacity is designed with quality and convenience. The actual reamer has perfectly formed angles for optimal juice extraction. The base is glass, and all plastic components are BPA-free and dishwasher-safe.
The container of this citrus juicer is designed as a cup (with lid), so you can drink from it immediately after juicing. Alternately, you can cover the container and store it in the refrigerator. In addition, the reamer incorporates a pouring spout for effortless pouring into any cup. Super convenient.
The mechanics of a handheld citrus press are identical to those of a commercial press juicer. Instead of rotating (one-half) the fruit as with a reamer, a handheld press juicer extracts the juices by applying force to the fruit.
Very easy to use, extracts all the juice, and is simple to store in the refrigerator. Also, I discovered that the apparatus fits on top of a Mason jar with a wide mouth, allowing me to juice a dozen or more oranges when entertaining.
Very simple juicer, squeeze, strain, store. Love that it comes with a lid so you can store the juice directly in the container without having to transfer it to another container. Also, very easy to clean!
Key Features
- Innovative juicer collects and stores freshly pressed juice: 5 ounce/148 ml capacity
- Juice reamer includes integrated pouring spout for convenience
- The base is made of glass base and a lid included for storing remaining squeezed juice
- The jucing reamer features ideal angles for optimal juicing output
- This citrus juicer is BPA free and dishwasher safe

- The parts fit together and come apart seamlessly

4. Vollum Manual Fruit Juicer
Manual Fruit Juicer – Commercial Grade Home Citrus Lever Squeezer for Oranges, Lemons, Limes, Grapefruits and More – Stainless Steel and Cast Iron – Non-skid Suction Cup Base – 15 Inch – by Vollum
The manual juicer from Vollum may be of professional quality, but it is also ergonomically designed. The device’s lever has a component that facilitates gripping. In addition, it comes with a set of hex screws so that you can make any necessary adjustments to make juicing even simpler. Each part that meets fruit—the holder and strainer—is detachable and made of stainless steel, making them completely dishwasher-safe.
The Vollum Manual Juicer crushes fruits of all sizes, from limes to pomegranates, with tremendous force. Extraction of citrusy, fresh juices from oranges, lemons, grapefruits, and various other fruits, while retaining the vitamin C and antioxidants found in the fruits themselves!
We squeeze a TON of lemons. As a lefty, I appreciate the heft of the juicer and the fact that the lever is in the middle.
It does a decent job of quickly extracting juice, catches all but the tiniest seeds, and is easy to clean. However, the part that presses down has a different shape than the perforated dome on which the fruit is pressed. The apex is conical in shape.
It is durable, heavy, and simple to clean. Simply removing the inner pieces where the fruit sits and wiping the remainder with a damp cloth makes it ready for subsequent use. It came with bolt-tightening tools. They occasionally become loose but tightening them is simple.
However, it is dangerous. Never would I allow a child to operate this. The handle does not remain upright and tends to “fall” as fruit is placed for juicing.
Key Features
- Pro Quality
- Easy To Use
- Durable Construction
- Mess Free Juicing
- Multiple Uses
- An adjustable juicer that’s also easy to clean
- It is solid, heavy
- The utilitarian design may be too spare for some

I finally bit the bullet and purchased this one because I needed a juicer capable of processing 300 lemons and oranges simultaneously throughout the season. What more can I say? 6. Best Cheap - Progressive Dome Citrus Juicer
Prepworks by Progressive Dome Citrus Juicer, Lemon Lime Orange Grapefruit Press, Hand Held, Manual Lemon Squeezer
This Prepworks by Progressive Citrus Juicer is designed to accommodate oranges, lemons, and limes. This juicer has a non-skid base and a lid that doubles as a measuring cup, preventing it from moving quickly. It is durable plastic and features printed measurements in teaspoons, cups, and millimeters. It has a capacity of 1 cup and is dishwasher safe.
They designed it adorable (spherical), but it would have been much more stable with a flatter base. The rim surrounding the juicer is relatively tiny, so it quickly becomes clogged with pulp; keep a spoon handy to empty the edge before the juice begins to overflow.
The plastic is sturdy and well-constructed, and the rubberized bottom does an excellent job of gripping the surface while you squeeze on top. So much better than when I attempted to squeeze an orange by hand and roughly as effective as an electric rotating juicer, I once owned that cost significantly more.
The core is sufficiently deep and broad to squeeze lemons, limes, and even oranges of all sizes. Moreover, it endures forever. I use mine daily, as I consume fresh lemon water daily.
Putting aside the advantages and disadvantages, the conclusion is that the item is suitable for infrequent use and has a small storage footprint. Not to be used frequently. It seems dishwasher-safe for the top rack.

7. New Star Foodservice 46878 Commercial Citrus Juicer
New Star Foodservice 46878 Commercial Citrus Juicer, Enameled Black
Manual juicers may appear cumbersome for producing enough fruit juice. However, the New Star commercial-grade fruit juicer is not the same.
The juicer has anti-slip rubber feet on its heavy base for stability. In addition, its small footprint allows it to fit on your kitchen counter without taking up much room. The container’s base can easily accommodate a 4″ wide container to save time and energy, allowing for maximum juice extraction at once.
The stainless steel contains 18 percent chromium and 8 percent nickel to prevent rust and corrosion. Professional-grade mechanisms and food-grade materials guarantee flawless output and long-lasting quality. It is ideal for restaurants and busy kitchens due to its durability and ability to withstand daily use.
The juicer’s filter and funnel work effectively to prevent unwanted seeds. These components collect the pulp of citrus fruits but cleaning them is simple. They are detachable and safe for the dishwasher, allowing you to get the most out of this kitchen workhorse.
I bought this to make pomegranate juice. I prefer mechanical items that are well-constructed and sturdy over anything electric. Indeed, this is the case, and it looks sleek on my counter. Except for one minor feature, it’s very well-made and functional. I’m sure it would be adequate for citrus, but for pomegranates, the steel cone inserted into the fruit must be pointed rather than flat.
Other than that, it is excellent. You must still hold it in place with one hand, but this is not a difficult task and does not require superhuman strength.
Key Features
- Professional-quality juicer in black, made of cast iron and 18/8 stainless steel
- Ergonomic rubberized handle will withstand 2, 300 PSI (pounds per square inch)
- Great for squeezing the most juice possible out of oranges, grapefruits, lemons, limes, and more
- Heavy base with suction feet for greater stability and longer handle for additional leverage
- Detachable cone and Funnel parts are dishwasher safe
- Stainless steel and cast-iron construction

- Ergonomic rubberized handle

8. Best Juicer for Lemons and Limes: Chef'n FreshForce Citrus Juicer
Chef’n (Lemon) FreshForce Citrus Juicer, 10.25 long
$17.49

The nylon and stainless-steel construction guarantee a lengthy lifespan. This kitchen and bar tool is ideal for squeezing lemons, limes, and other small citrus fruits. The top rack of the dishwasher is dishwasher safe. Choose intelligent, user-friendly kitchen utensils based on elegant design, innovative technologies, and Chef’s reputable name.
Its body is made of a high-quality, hard, dishwasher-safe plastic, and its chrome-plated metal squeezer is well-constructed. Excellent for use with lemons and limes; small oranges are acceptable, but larger ones require slicing. Very useful for cooking when lemon juice is required.
This juicer from Chef’n is ideal for extracting the juice of lemons and limes. It is more expensive than other squeezers, but you save money in the long run (no need to replace flimsy models so frequently). However, it is quite large and requires more cabinet space than more compact models. It is also simple to maintain.
It makes it very easy to squeeze lemons and limes because it has a long fulcrum and allows for a great deal of pressure. It is highly durable, so it is unlikely to break. It is likely the best kitchen tool we possess.
Key Features

9. Best Citrus Presses - Joseph Joseph 20101 Helix Citrus Juicer
Joseph Joseph 20101 Helix Citrus Juicer Ergonomic Twist-Action Hand Press Stainless Steel, Yellow
Most hand-held juicers require strong hands to operate, and their vertical squeezing action can be awkward. The squeezing force is applied horizontally with the helix juicer, which is significantly more ergonomic because it utilizes the shoulder muscles.
In addition, its unique twisting mechanism multiplies the force applied, allowing for more excellent compression with less effort. The durable, two-piece construction is stainless steel and nylon and can be separated for easy cleaning. In addition to a garlic press and a potato ricer, the helix collection also includes a garlic press and a potato ricer.
The stainless-steel component through which the juice flows are ingenious: simple, mess-free, seed-free, rinse-and-use. It leaves behind pulp and some juice. I’d say it squeezes lemon to about 80 percent.
The design is quite ingenious, as it keeps the seeds within the rind and out of the juice at the expense of some liquid and pulp. I resolved not to obsess over the last few drops and instead appreciated not having to extract every drop manually.
Simple to use and clean. When squeezing some fruit, place the stainless-steel part into a cup, as the juice will shoot in various directions otherwise. This instrument will effectively extract all the juice from the fruit. There’s virtually nothing left.
This changes the game! No more sore wrists from traditional lemon or lime presses and no pulp like when using a juicer. Well worth the price!
Key Features
- Unique twisting action makes juicing easier
- Suitable for squeezing lemons and limes
- Durable stainless-steel and nylon construction
- Easy-clean 2-piece design. Dishwasher safe.
- BPA free and food-safe
- Only minimal muscle strength needed
- No seeds in juice
- Easy to clean
- Only for small citruses, like lemons and limes
- Squeezes around 80 % of a fruit
10. Best Vintage Style - Hand Press Citrus Juicer by Verve CULTURE
Hand Press Citrus Juicer by Verve CULTURE | Vintage-Look Countertop Orange and Lemon Squeezer | Antique-Style Manual Juice Extractor
The Verve Culture juicer is crafted by hand using recycled materials. In addition to being environmentally sustainable, it also helps preserve traditional craftsmanship. The Verve Culture press is handcrafted in Mexico from high-quality recycled materials, and its performance is exceptional.
The Verve Citrus squeezer is available in two sizes. Large has a wider juicing cone to accommodate large oranges and grapefruits. This juicer is quite large and produces an abundance of juice with a great deal of pulp. The aesthetic of the Verve press is distinctly vintage industrial.
The Verve press is more expensive than other citrus presses, but it is still a good value in terms of performance quality for handcrafted items. This juice is for those who appreciate handmade items and pulpy juice.
With this countertop masterpiece, Verve has recreated the appearance of an antique citrus presser, adding a touch of vintage style to your kitchen and home. The patina finish will develop over time, enhancing the antique aesthetic.
Verve Culture has crafted a professional juice extractor by hand. Manual citrus press designed to squeeze oranges, lemons, limes, and grapefruits, with “Verve CULTURE” decoratively embossed on the sides. 13″ in height.
Each juicer is individually cast in sand, ground, and polished to a beautiful sheen by skilled Mexican artisans who use 100 percent recycled aluminum.
This juicer is exceptionally well-made and attractive. If you press hard, you can extract the juice. The only issue is that it tends to tip forward when applied pressure, so you must keep your other hand on the back. It might be more convenient if it were surface-mounted. It would be convenient if there were an attachment for larger fruits, such as grapefruits or even oranges. As it stands, lemons and small oranges predominate.
Key Features
- Vintage Style
- Hand-crafted by skilled Mexican artisans
- Easy To Use
- Easy To Clean
- Recipes included
- Good performance
- Handmade
- Unique style
- Higher price point
- Heavy and large
- No warranty, purchase protection available
Factors To Consider When Choosing The Best Manual Citrus Juicer
In general, an excellent manual citrus juicer should be able to extract juice effortlessly and far more quickly than you could with your hands alone. However, it should not do so too vigorously, as this can extract bitter flavors from the pith. Additionally, it should automatically remove seeds and pulp.
A quality citrus juicer should also be simple to clean. As sour as citrus juice can be it always contains some sugar. This can cause pulp fragments and sticky residue to become lodged in crevices. The best citrus juicers should have a minimal number of cracks, saving you time to clean up.
Yield
The essential characteristic of a juicer is its yield: how much juice can it extract from a single fruit, and how much is left over? To determine what percentage of the fruit had been converted into liquid, we weighed each batch of fruit before squeezing. Then consider the extracted juice after straining it through a fine-mesh sieve, as juice containing more pulp is not equivalent to more juice.
But not all juicers improved and were surprisingly consistent across fruit types, although limes, with their thin skin, tended to yield slightly more juice by weight than lemons or oranges. However, juice yield will vary depending on the fruit used and the season.
Ease of Use
The effort exerted is also crucial. Orange juice preparation should not be a laborious or time-consuming process. Few lemons should not cause carpal tunnel syndrome. In addition to observing how difficult it was to use each tool, we timed how long it took to juice each fruit, both with and without juicers. Most juicers assisted in juicing the fruit in roughly half the time required to squeeze manually.
Flavor
In addition, we conducted a blind tasting of each juice with a panel of five taste-testers. We asked each taster to rate the bitterness, floral or fragrant quality, and overall flavor of each liquid on a scale of 1 to 10, with room for additional comments because squeezers tend to extract more oils from the skin than reamers. To prevent palate fatigue, we presented each taster with the juices in a different order.
Other Criteria
Other considerations included the mess that the juicer created. How much juice landed on the counter (or was sprayed further away)? How much did we end up possessing? How difficult was it to aim at the small opening of a glass? How simple was the juicer to wash? Afterward, there is cost.
Best Manual Citrus Juicers For Homemade Squeezed Juice - FAQs
In addition to the guidelines for selecting the best manual citrus juicers, I also include my concise responses to frequently asked questions. This section may also help you resolve your problems.
Other fruits (such as apples, pears, and grapes) can be juiced from whole fruit, but not citrus. This is due to the bitter taste found in citrus fruits’ white flesh, or pith. Citrus juicers are designed to extract only the juice from the fruit’s flesh, leaving the peel and pith behind. On the other hand, a juicer will cut or crush the whole fruit or vegetable before separating the pulp and juice.
Deep-dish pizza is cooked in a cake- or pie-shaped steel pan. The dough is pressed against the pan’s sides to form a basin for a layer of cheese and fillings. The pan is oiled to facilitate removal and create a fried effect on the crust’s edges.
Some citrus juicers can be cleaned in a dishwasher, while others cannot. Wood and wooden items (including many citrus reamers) should never be placed in the dishwasher. However, one of our favorite juicers is dishwasher-safe and manufactured by Chef’n. Before placing an item in the dishwasher, we always advise confirming the manufacturer’s care instructions.
Investing in an electric citrus juicer is a matter of personal preference and depends on how you anticipate juicing. If you enjoy freshly squeezed orange juice every morning, an electric citrus juicer could save you time and effort. In contrast, manual citrus juicers are much cheaper and easier to store if you only occasionally juice lemons and limes.
Conclusion
Don’t want to invest in a citrus juicer with a single function? Utilize a pair of tongs for citrus juicing! It is a built-in manual citrus juicer that you likely already possess!
Spread the tongs horizontally and place the citrus half, cut side down, between them. Place it as close as possible to the end where the tongs meet.
Squeeze the tongs to extract the juice but place a bowl beneath the citrus before squeezing! Remember to strain the seeds!
