My First Homemade Pizza

This is a wonderful first homemade pizza recipe that will give you all the basics required to master the art of pizza making. This pizza recipe is simple but still gives a wonderful flavoured pizza that will demonstrate the huge difference in taste that can be achieved in making your own pizza with fresh ingredients.

  • 200g – Grated Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1 x Medium Sweet Red Onion

Tools Used:


  1. If you have them place a pizza stone in the oven and preheat to 250°C (500°F / Gas 9) or its highest temperature. Once it has reached the temperature, it will take about 15 minutes until the pizza stones are ready.
  2. Once the dough has proofed to about three times the size generously flour wooden pizza peel, roll out the pizza dough to approx 12 “ in diameter and about 3mm thick. Transfer the pizza base onto baking paper so the completed pizzas can be transferred onto the pizza stones.
  3. Prick the base of the pizzas with a fork or Pizza Docker.
  4. Using ladle or large spoon spread the tomato sauce over the pizza dough in a circular motion outwards.
  5. Spread the mozzarella cheese evenly over the pizza and then thinly slice the onion placing them generously over the cheese topping.
  6. Bake the pizza at the preheated temperature for about 4-5 minutes or until a golden brown crust. Check the bottom after 4 minutes just to make sure it doesn’t get to dark.
  7. Transfer to a cutting board and leave for 2 – 3 minutes before cutting with a pizza cutter and serving.
